Interviews
We at Evira have spoken to parents in four different families whose children are undergoing treatment for obesity and are using our digital treatment tool. The aim is to provide insight into what the treatment journey can look like.

"Evira gave the whole family a fresh start"
When Maya first discovered Evira for her daughter, the family had been through a tough period filled with nagging, arguments, and constant worry about food and weight. It was clear they needed a new approach – and then everything changed.
“It was like magic,” says Maya. “When my daughter started using Evira, she found the motivation to make changes on her own. I didn’t have to push her anymore – she took ownership of her choices.”
From struggle to Teamwork
Evira became a practical, hands-on tool for both Maya and her daughter. By tracking progress in the app and receiving feedback from healthcare professionals via messages, her daughter discovered her own drive to stay within her goals – and that shift transformed the whole family dynamic.
“She began deciding her portion sizes on her own, switched to a smaller plate, and started tracking her progress with Evira. It became something fun for her – and a relief for me as a parent.”
Sisters and cousin were inspired
Seeing the difference Evira made, Maya’s older daughter wanted to try it too. Over time, it became a family effort. The older sister also began treatment for her own weight issues using Evira, and even cousins and school nurses reached out to learn more about the app and the special device the family was using.
“It just spread – people saw the results and wanted to know what we were doing. I always recommend Evira, but I also tell people that it only works if you, as a parent, are there to support your child. The device doesn’t do the work – we do it together.”
More Than Just Numbers
For Maya’s family, the journey hasn’t been about obsessing over numbers on a scale. It’s been about understanding patterns, learning about portion sizes, and staying motivated through positive, encouraging feedback from trusted healthcare providers.
“The kids love the message feature. When the nurse sends a message, they just light up with pride. It makes such a big difference.”
Less Worry, More Joy
Today, Maya’s youngest daughter has lost around 11 kilos and is no longer living with obesity. The family has found new routines that work – and a whole new way of relating to food, activity, and everyday life.
“I truly hope more families get the chance to use Evira. It’s helped us so much – not just our daughter, but all of us.”

"Evira – a tool that helps families create sustainable routines and strengthen collaboration with healthcare professionals"
How did it feel when you were first introduced to Evira?
– I found it quite straightforward. The healthcare staff helped us install the app and get everything set up. It is a user-friendly tool and has been a really positive throughout the treatment journey.
Which part of Evira have you found most valuable as a parent?
– I’d say the most valuable part is to be able to track the progress. Sometimes you think you’re doing the right things, but with Evira you can immediately see how it impacts the curve. For example, we clearly saw over the summer that when we let go of our routines, the curve changed. But once we got back into our usual habits, things approved again. It’s made us much more aware of how important it is to stick to healthy routines.
How has it been communicating with healthcare professionals through Evira?
– It’s been really smooth! It’s so reassuring to get quick answers to simple questions. The nurses are on top of things and follow the progress. They have also encouraged us and shared tips, which has made us not feel supported and not alone in the process.
Would you recommend Evira to other families?
– Absolutely, I would! The whole concept is brilliant. As a parent, you get easy access to support and a clear tool that genuinely makes a difference.
Parents' experience of Evira:
- A personal journey
How long have you been using Evira as part of the treatment?
- We’ve been using Evira for around six months. We were first introduced to it about a year ago. At the time, I was very sceptical. The idea of weighing my child every day felt strange and uncomfortable. I didn’t want stepping on the scale to become a regular part of her life, so I initially said no. As the treatment progressed, Evira was recommended to us several times. At one point, one of the healthcare providers showed me the app and how everything worked – in a more visual way – and that helped me see it differently. She also explained it to my child in a way that made it feel more natural for both of us.
It was actually one of the biggest challenges for me as a parent - I was worried about saying the wrong thing to my child. The healthcare provider has been an invaluable support for us as a family in that respect.
What made you give Evira a chance?
- It was the caregiver's patience and the way she explained things so clearly. She showed me how the measurement tool worked, gave examples of different curves and explained the benefits. That really helped take away the fear.
Also, I could see that we needed to do something, as my child was continuing to gain weight. Eventually, I felt ready to give it a try.
What has it been like using the tool in everyday life?
- It has been a bit of a rollercoaster, to be honest. In the beginning, it was actually quite tough seeing the development of the curve in black and white. It's not always easy to look at, but at the same time it became a motivation for me to keep going. The curve has gone both up and down at times, and I’ve learned to reflect on what might be influencing those changes. It’s become a kind of reminder – sometimes showing us what we’re doing right, and sometimes helping us see what we might need to adjust.
How have you found the support from healthcare provider through Evira?
- The healthcare providers have been fantastic. They‘ve supported us evert step of the way and encouraged us even when things haven’t gone as we’ve hoped.
For them, the most important thing is that we continue with the measurements and that we don't give up, which has helped me as a parent to stay focused and understand that this is a long-term process
Are there any downsides to using to the tool?
– I think if you struggle with the idea that weight can fluctuate, it can be hard at first. You really have to understand that this is a long-term journey – it’s not something that changes overnight.
It took me a while to come to terms with that, but now I feel more relaxed if we miss a measurement one day or if the results vary from week to week.
Would you recommend Evira's tools to other families in similar situations?
– Definitely – but I do think it’s important that families get all the information up front, and that the caregivers are there to guide and support you, especially in the beginning.
It took me a while to get used to the idea, but now I can really see how it helps us stay on track and make better choices for my child’s health over time.

A parent's story:
- How Evira changed our everyday lives
What has it been like using the tool Evira in everyday life?
– It has been very practical and provides good feedback that suits our family. I usually cook the meals, and it’s valuable to see how certain choices affect weight. The curve helps us see the progress without creating a strict focus on weight.
How do you experience the contact with healthcare providers through Evira?
– It works really well! The chat function makes it easy to communicate directly with the healthcare staff, and it’s convenient that it’s integrated into the same app. The fact that the staff at the pediatric clinic are engaged in my son’s care is essential for this to work.
Has Evira had an effect on your family’s everyday life?
– Absolutely. It has helped us change our eating habits. We eat better as a family, which feels like the biggest gain, and honestly, I haven’t seen any downsides.
Would you recommend Evira to other families?
– Yes, I think it can be helpful for many. It’s worth trying if it fits into the family’s routines. I wish we had gotten access to Evira earlier—then we would have been further along by now.
